WRHS Foundation Raises $1,550 at KNDC Farm & Home Show!

WRHS Foundation Raises $1,550 at KNDC Farm & Home Show!

By Ted Uecker, FDO

The Foundation at West River Health Services had a super successful day at the KNDC Farm & Home Show on Friday, October 16th at the Hettinger Armory. A grand total of $1,550 was raised via a $10 gift or more to the Foundation to receive one of Delbert Woodley’s donated pumpkins! A total of 47 gifts were given, with 23 gifts and $1,035 directed toward the MRI Campaign; 21 gifts and $465 for the Western Horizons Care Center; and 3 gifts totaling $50 for the WRHS Scholarship Fund. All of the pumpkins were sold except 11, which were taken to the Western Horizons Assisted Living Center for decoration.

Everyone who gave a gift was then entered into an hourly drawing for seven HUGE pumpkins and seven one pound containers of candy corn! The following were drawn as winners: Birdie Butterfield, Magnus Meier, Cori Lien, Kathleen Poss, Dode Christman, Cindy Veitz and Alan Timm. There were also drawings for pumpkin glow sticks for the kids and the winners were: Grace Stone, Annie Wolf, Jenna Hallen, Ellie Schmitz and Katy Schauer. In addition, there was a kid’s drawing for a Banzai Scooter (Jack Schauer won!) and a Table Top Pool Table (Jackson Schwarz won!).

Special thanks to KNDC’s Nolan Dix and Jill Anderson for putting on one of the largest KNDC Farm & Home Shows in a few years. They’re both so good about opening the Armory early, helping us out with setting up, announcing the drawing winners, and cleaning up afterwards.

Thank you to Delbert Woodley from Haynes for always supporting us with his gift of pumpkins for two years in a row. It really helps us in acquiring funds for WRHS, which in turn helps us provide better technology and healthcare for our area patients.

An extra special thanks to Dode Christman, Sheri & Ted Uecker, Birdie & John Butterfield, Susan & Jim Hallen, Cindy & Delwayne Olson, Julie & Matthew Kramlich, Leilani & Don Melling Jr., and Jan & Chuck Defoe; for your overly generous contributions to the Foundation at this event.

The next event on the Foundation schedule is the Annual WRHS Auxiliary Turkey Luncheon on Thursday, November 5th, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. They will be serving an amazing hot turkey lunch with all the fixin’s and desert. The cost is $5 for children up to 10; $10 for ages 11 and up. There are also $2 WRHS Auxiliary Raffle Tickets for sale at the Hettinger Clinic front desk, all of the satellite clinics, any Auxiliary member, and at the turkey luncheon itself. The nine awesome raffle ticket prizes will be drawn at the conclusion of the Turkey Luncheon on November 5th. Remember, if we raise over $2,500 via the turkey luncheon and the raffle ticket sales, Modern Woodmen from Lemmon, SD, will match us $2,500 for the MRI Campaign. So get your tickets bought and bring a friend to the turkey feed. See ya all there!
