Laparoscopic surgery, also called minimally invasive surgery, means smaller incisions and shorter recovery time. This new technology requires significant investment not only in specialized equipment but also in the surgery team. WRHS is committed to the health needs of the area.
Dr. Robert Gustafson and Dr. Mary Aaland are pleased to announce that they are now performing laparoscopic appendectomies at WRHS. An appendectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix.
Dr. Robert Gustafson recently joined WRHS Surgery Center. He is board-certified in general surgery and specializing in laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Mary Aaland is the associate professor of surgery at UND School of Medicine in Grand Forks. She is the director of UND Rural Surgery Support Program, a program that aids rural hospitals and surgeons with provider coverage for vacations and holidays. Dr. Aaland is board-certified in general and critical care surgery.
