At WRHS, our registered dietitian can provide individual nutritional counseling and assist you with science-based nutrition education related to chronic diseases or conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, hyperlipidemia, obesity, hypertension, and food intolerances. As a dedicated and compassionate nutrition professional, she can help you with meal planning ideas while also providing motivation and support to help you make healthy lifestyle changes to meet your personal health goals.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How can your program help me?
We can evaluate your current eating patterns and make suggestions for buying foods and meal planning to help you meet your goals. After that, we provide ongoing support as needed.
- Will I have to give up my favorite foods?
No. Some changes are necessary but we will work with you to achieve long-term success.
- How do I schedule an appointment?
You must be referred by your healthcare provider to meet with a dietitian. Self-referrals are accepted for weight loss, but your insurance company may require a physician referral for payment if weight loss counseling is a covered benefit for you. The Dietitian will be available for counseling sessions one day per week.
- Will my insurance pay for this program?
Many insurance plans cover medical nutrition therapy for nutrition-related medical conditions. Please check with your insurance carrier to see if you have this coverage for your diagnosis. Medicare covers medical nutritional therapy for diabetes and renal (kidney) disease only.
- What if I don't have insurance?
If you do not have insurance, we can help you apply for any available financial assistance. You may qualify for the WRHS Charity Care Program or Good Neighbor Program.
