1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging Services (MRI) utilizes magnetic fields to diagnose common illnesses and injuries such as soft tissue abnormalities, tumors, strokes, torn ligaments, and bulging disks.
64-Slice CT Scanner (Computerized Tomography) features advanced technology that produces split-second high-quality images, permitting doctors to see more anatomical detail in a fraction of the time. A CT scan is an x-ray procedure that also uses a computer to generate a picture of your body. This gives a 3-dimensional view or slice of a particular part of your body. With this CT scanner, West River physicians will be able to more effectively detect a range of illnesses, including cancer, stroke, and lung disease. Contrast media may be injected to help the radiologist more accurately evaluate an area.
Full Field Digital Mammography Services include a Selenia Dimensions full-field digital system that will provide higher resolution and detail for our mammography studies. Mammography Services include mammogram, breast ultrasound, and breast biopsies using wire localization.
Our service is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), and our mammography technologists are registered.
As a Pink Ribbon Facility we take pride in providing every woman that comes to us for a mammogram with a Full Field Digital mammography exam.
3D Ultrasound Imaging (Including Cardiac & OB) uses high frequency sound waves to image various areas of the body without radiation. Like fluoroscopy, ultrasound is able to capture structural movement in real time. With 3D capabilities, technologists and doctors are able to note structural differences more readily. Ultrasound is commonly used to view the body in order to evaluate symptoms such as pain, swelling, or infection.
Nuclear Imaging uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and treat a variety of conditions. Nuclear medicine procedures can be both diagnostic and therapeutic. Radiopharmaceuticals are mixed with kits that specifically allow us to image a particular organ or system in the body. The radiopharmaceuticals are administered typically through a vein in the arm. The energy from the radiopharmaceutical in the form of gamma rays are detected by the nuclear medicine scanner producing images of the body. Nuclear medicine involves procedures such as cardiac stress tests, thyroid scans, kidney scans, total body bone scans, lung scans, and more.
Digital X-ray Imaging provides two-dimensional images of the body to diagnose fractures, bone abnormalities, lung diseases, and some soft tissue abnormalities. WRHS not only offers a wide range of general x-ray images for adults, we can also safely and effectively provide x-rays for the pediatric patient.
Flouroscopy Procedures incorporate the use of both general radiology and a fluoroscope. Fluoroscopy exams are performed by the radiologist. It uses real time imaging and contrast to help the radiologist more accurately evaluate an area. Shoulder arthrograms, upper GI studies, lower GI studies, voiding cystourethrograms, and hysterosalpingograms are some of the fluoroscopy procedures done at WRHS.
Dexa Bone Density Scan is performed with our state-of-the-art Hologic Dexa scanner. It uses a low dose of radiation to measure the amount of calcium stored in your bones. This information is used to determine your risk of bone fracture.
Body Composition Exam can also be performed on our Hologic Dexa scanner. This exam gives you information on your lean muscle and fat tissue distribution. All diagnostic images are evaluated in a timely manner by Dr. Mark Kristy, board-certified radiologist at West River. Call 701-567-6060 for more information. Current and accurate patient information about diagnostic radiology procedures, interventional radiology and radiation therapy.
