With Kennedy’s Partnership, WRHS Foundation Raises $2,500 at KNDC Farm & Home Show

Kennedy's Fresh Foods, the local grocery store in Hettinger, once again stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun! Their partnership with the West River Health Services Foundation continues to shine and ten days ago on Friday, October 27th, they did it again. By gifting 50 pumpkins to the WRHS Foundation, they helped raise $2,500 for various programs for the healthcare Foundation, also based in Hettinger.

The WRHS Foundation and Kennedy's are beginning to be the place to buy your pumpkins for Halloween. For a $10 or more gift to the WRHS Foundation at the Annual KNDC Farm & Home Show at the Hettinger Armory, local folks are able to take their pick of the pumpkins. Then all of the $10+ donors were entered into a drawing for five turkeys (also donated by Kennedy's!). All 50 of the pumpkins found a new home and $2,500 was raised from 52 gifts, ranging from $10 to $500! The winners drawn hourly for the five free turkeys included: Phyllis Enerson, Jody LeFebre, Sue Lindquist, Mike & Sandy Marion and Charles Ahmann. Each of them received gift certificates from Kennedy's for a free turkey heading into Thanksgiving season.

The gifts for pumpkins totaling $2,500 went to the following programs at the West River Health Services Foundation:

$1,175 Healthcare Heroes Endowment Fund

$ 495 West River Ambulance Fund

$ 250 Grateful Givers Club

$ 240 Western Horizons Living Centers Fund

$ 200 Physician Recruitment Endowment Fund

$ 120 Scholarship Fund

$ 20 General Fund

The West River Health Services Foundation is sure grateful for every gift – no matter the size or the fund our givers select. We are thankful for the terrific support of our area citizens.

In addition to the pumpkins and the turkeys, the WRHS Foundation also held a free youth drawing for six youth prizes. The drawn names and the prizes they chose were: Jaxon Ness – Rocket Launcher; Kaison Melling – Basketball; Dawson DeFoe – 12 Reeses; Rayne Archibald – Spooky Makeup Kit; Jennifer Verdin – Rock Painting Kit; and Lander Praus – Pumpkin Carving Kit. Thank you area youth for participating. We hope you'll continue attending the KNDC Farm & Home Show – after all, your parents need help hauling the huge pumpkins home and you might be drawn for a prize!

The West River Health Services Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization that provides fundraising and development services for West River Health Services and Western Horizons Living Centers, the healthcare leaders in Western Dakota. The WRHS Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors from our service area communities. If you ever have any questions about the WRHS Foundation, please call Ted Uecker, Fund Development Officer, direct at 701-567-3666. Your gifts help us improve WRHS/WHLC, so we can continue providing top-notch healthcare "close to home." Onward!  Ted Uecker, WRHS Foundation
