The Foundation at West River Health Services attended the KBJM Farm & Home Show at the Beeler Center in Lemmon this past Friday, March 11th. With a booth full of balloons for the kids and Sylvia Engle’s homemade pies for the adults, the Foundation was ready to tell its story.
For a $10 or more gift to the Foundation, Lemmon area folk could choose where their funds would go – WRHS Lemmon Clinic, WRHS Scholarship Fund, MRI Campaign, Ambulance Fund, or “One Room At a Time Together” Campaign at Western Horizons Care Center. Plus, for their $10 investment, they were entered into an hourly drawing for one of Sylvia Engle’s famous “homemade from scratch” pies – everything from apple to banana cream to blackberry rhubarb to coconut cream, to rhubarb custard -- and of course, LEMMON! A special THANK YOU goes out to Sylvia Engle for all the awesome pies – especially from the lucky drawn winners – Judy Stevahn, Phyllis Pearson, Brett Odenbach, Eleanor Tomac, Cathleen Rychner, Susie Dauwen, Don Merriman, Jerry Kling and Dr. Mark & Lenae Kristy.
Overall, the Foundation raised $1,025 from 38 individual gifts – ranging from $10 to $150! Since Jerry Kling gave the largest gift of the day ($150), he also received a beautiful “Cowboys Fan Club” wreath, in addition to his banana cream pie! Bill Hourigan, Sheri Uecker and Dr. Kristy were the next largest contributors. Overall, the amounts gifted to each fund were as follows:
“One Room At a Time Campaign” $410
Ambulance Fund $195
WRHS Lemmon Clinic $160
Scholarship Fund $130
MRI Campaign $130
In addition to the adult gifts and pie winners, we also had a few drawings for kid’s toys: Keegan Kling and Karly Riley were the recipients of the toys. Numerous kids walked away with way cool balloons of their favorite characters as well.
Thank you to Mike and Grant Schweitzer at KBJM Radio Station for hosting this terrific event for the surrounding area. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who gave a little – to add up to a lot – for the WRHS Foundation to continue to improve our equipment and facilities for your healthcare leader in the area – West River Health Services. See ya next year!
