West River Health Services Foundation is once again offering $5 Raffle Tickets in conjunction with their 30th Annual “Fun Run and Walk” event on the 4th of July. And what’s so great about this raffle ticket? 1) You have a chance to win amazing prizes; 2) You can improve your community, especially for our youth; and 3) You can improve your very own healthcare!
First, by purchasing a raffle ticket, you could win one of eleven fantastic prizes! This list includes an awesome, new Kayak from Runnings; a new, speedy Bicycle from Shahan’s; two Medora Musical tickets from Uecker’s; a new Camping Tent Kit from Larson’s; a brand new Paddleboard from Uecker Yards; two Bismarck Larks baseball tickets (in the second row behind the dugout!); a Fishing Kit with two poles and a loaded tackle box from Ness’s; both men’s and women’s Mizuno Running Shoes from Jeremy Galbreth; Golf for Two with Cart at scenic Bully Pulpit from the Medora Foundation; and a Family Swimming Pass from Hettinger Public School. We are trying to sell 1,000 of these raffle tickets. With the raffle ticket proceeds, sponsorships and registrations from the Fun Run & Walk, we could raise around $7-8,000! This allows us to give back $3-4,000 to our local area communities. Last year we reached out to Hettinger and Medora. Maybe there’s a local area community that has a need that we could help with? We’d be more than willing to listen. The mission for our “Fun Run & Walk” is to promote health and fitness by offering this healthy event and then distributing funds raised from it toward equipment and/or active events in our area communities and within West River Health Services/Western Horizons Living Centers.
In fact, in the last two years, since we’ve added a raffle ticket to our Fun Run & Walk event, we’ve given back $6,428 to our area communities! Our gifts have included $2,000 for the Hettinger Swimming Pool Renovations Project; $1,500 for Hettinger’s Youth Baseball and Girls Softball Programs; $800 for the Hettinger Backpack Food Program; $400 for The Granary; $500 for Badlands Ministries Youth Camp; $500 for Hettinger Youth Golf Program; $500 for Hettinger’s Swimming Program; and $228 for Hettinger’s Little League Baseball Tournament. Three years ago, even before our Fun Run & Walk raffle ticket began, West River gave $600 to Hettinger’s Backpack Food Program and another $200 to The Granary from our successful Fun Run & Walk event. Now that’s being a partner with the community. But TOGETHER, we’ve learned that we can do even more!
While supporting your area community, we’ve also made improvements to your local healthcare system – which, in the end, helps all of us. Over the last three years, we’ve distributed $9,292 from our “Fun, Run & Walk” funds to the following areas at West River/Western Horizons: $2,392 for our WRHS Rehabilitation Center; $1,500 for West River Ambulance Service; $1,300 for Western Horizons Care Center; $1,050 for Western Horizons Assisted Living Center; $1,000 for part of a healthy vending machine; $800 for Partners In Health Club; $750 for Bike Racks on West River’s Campus; and $500 for the new MRI Scanner and MRI Building Addition. All of these improvements are making a difference for our patients and our employees.
