Annual WRHS Auxiliary Turkey Luncheon Tastes Hugely Succcessful!

By Ted Uecker, WRHS Fund Development Officer

The West River Health Services Auxiliary’s Annual Turkey Luncheon was held on Thursday, November 5th, at the Hettinger Lutheran Church. It was a smashing success, with a huge and steady crowd of hungry supporters! So hungry in fact, that people were eagerly awaiting the hot turkey lunches a half hour prior to the 11:00 am starting time. Not only were hundreds of people served the awesome turkey lunch, but all-time records were set for turkey lunches delivered! That’s right, hundreds of hot turkey meals were put together in to-go containers and hand delivered to area folk’s homes/businesses.

A grand total of $5,169 was brought in for the turkey luncheon itself, far outdistancing last year’s $3,889 total. With 20 tasty turkeys cooked perfectly by the gang at Kennedy’s, plus another amazing outpouring of volunteers to prepare, serve, and deliver the awesome hot turkey lunches, this Annual Turkey Luncheon was one for the record books. The dinner included your choice of white or wheat bread, light or dark turkey, dressing, gravy and cranberries. And don’t forget the pies! Oh my, it was a sensational day!

In addition to the awesome turkey luncheon, the WRHS Auxiliary and Foundation teamed up to create and sell 1700 raffle tickets, which helped raise another $3,400! At the end of the turkey luncheon, the lucky raffle ticket winners were drawn for the following prizes, from our amazing and supportive donors:

Thank you donors for supplying us with awesome gifts for our successful raffle ticket fundraiser. And thank you raffle ticket buyers, as your funds will help us keep our equipment and scholarships at WRHS top-notch. Since we have easily surpassed a net overall total of $2,500, the Modern Woodmen group from Lemmon, SD will be matching us with $2,500 for the MRI Campaign. We even had Al and Delores Colgrove, members of Modern Woodmen, on hand with us at the Annual Turkey Luncheon. Thank you so much for attending and supporting us.

In addition to the success of the raffle tickets and turkey luncheon, the Auxiliary also sold 33 memberships. This was definitely a record day in all areas. Thank you Hettinger and surrounding areas for your continued support.
