The spirit of generosity is alive and well in southwest North Dakota! Eleven nonprofits raised a record of $473,000 on Giving Hearts Day, February 11th, increasing the
amount raised last year by about $58,000!! The Dickinson area effort was part of the record shattering $22 million raised for more almost 500 charities on Giving Hearts Day 2021!
The real story is the great work all these organizations are able to do for people in southwest North Dakota with this much-needed influx of funds. These dedicated charities provide a wide variety of programs and services including improving health, providing food for the hungry, supporting spiritual growth, providing mentors for at-risk kids and, in countless other ways, making life richer for everyone in our region.
This powerful, community-wide effort brought donors and charities together to ensure that resources are sufficient to deliver crucial services to people in southwest North Dakota.
The annual Giving Hearts Day event is a 24-hour online fundraiser created in 2008 by the Dakota Medical Foundation in Fargo. Most of the Dickinson area charities joined Giving Hearts Day in 2014. The day makes space for charities to share their stories, connect with new givers and become skillful in a proven “friend-raising” system. It has become a gateway for people to connect to causes doing good work in areas they passionately care about. Since 2008, there has been an astounding $112 million raised by Giving Hearts Day!
On February 11, 2021, there were 89,162 donations, from 42,272 donors, benefitting nearly 500 charities and causes in North Dakota and Minnesota, for a grand total of $22 million, compared to $19.1 million raised in 2020.
We look forward to next year, which will be on Thursday, February 10, 2022!
