Organizations often have a singular mission, and for ABLE, Inc. and West River Health Services (WRHS), our missions align in advocating for health, wellness, and the pursuit of dreams and goals for a better future for all residents.
The WRHS board is deeply committed to these objectives and values our partnership with ABLE, Inc. Initially, the WRHS Foundation Board offered to donate a lot near the Assisted Living Facility; however, the lot lacked essential amenities. Since it would have been too costly to build at that location using their grant-funded money, the WRHS Board took action to find a solution. They purchased a lot with all the necessary utilities, enabling the building project to move forward within budget.
The WRHS Board aimed to introduce a unique service at the new facility proposed by ABLE Inc., a community bathing room with enhanced accessibility. This space would include an accessible adult changing table and a jetted bathtub. It would be available for ABLE residents, referrals from professional for first-time use for community members recovering from surgery, and anyone needing accessible accommodations, including travelers who require such facilities. For more details on the community bathing room, call 701-567-4640.
“We’re pleased to have partnered with ABLE by donating funds for their accessible bathing unit. When ABLE shared that this unit would be open for community members to use when in need, we knew we wanted to support both ABLE, Inc. and our community in making this valuable resource available,” comments Alyson Kornele, CEO of WRHS and Subsidiaries.
“ABLE, Inc. is so excited about our new home in Hettinger. This state-of-the-art home will serve people for the next 40 to 50 years. We thank our community for all the support we have received.” - Mary Anderson, Executive Director of ABLE, Inc.
The grand opening of the new facility occurred on October 3, 2024, at 1308 2nd Avenue South, adjacent to the original residence.
