WRHS Food and Nutrition Services manager Linda Nudell is proud to announce the department’s participation in ServSafe education.
ServSafe is a food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the National Restaurant Association. The program is accredited by ANSI and the Conference for Food Protection.
The course discusses foodborne illnesses, including information on specific foodborne pathogens and biological toxins. Prevention is covered, with information regarding purchasing and receiving guidelines, food preparation, holding, and serving guidelines, food safety management systems, sanitation guidelines for facilities and equipment, and integrated pest control, as well as food safety regulations and employee training.
The Food and Nutrition Services department is strongly committed to food safety training. By implementing food safety practices on a daily basis and training staff in food safety practices , risk of foodborne illness is minimized. Food safety as an essential ingredient in every meal.
Successful completion of a comprehensive exam is required to become ServSafe certified. WRHS employees who are certified are Sharon Maershbecker, Angela Hughes, Paula Lewis, Mandy Cornella, Carmen Strid and Cathy Barnes.
